Aarushi Murder Case: SC Admits CBI Appeal Against Acquittal Aarushi-Hemraj murder case: the Supreme Court on Friday admitted the Central Bureau of Investigation’s appeal against the acquittal of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar. The dentist couple were released from jail in October 2017 after the Allahabad High Court acquitted them in Aarushi Murder Case. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the CBI’s appeal in the Arushi Murder Case along with the plea filed by the Hemraj’s wife. The CBI had approached the apex court against the Allahabad High Court verdict in March this year. "Leave granted," the bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices Navin Sinha and K M Joseph, said. Aarushi (14) was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida home on May 16, 2008 night. 45-year-old Hemraj, the domestic help of Talwars, was found dead the next day – his body was found on the terrace. The case was first handled by the Noida Police which arrested Aarushi’s father Rajesh Talwar. However, following allegations by the Uttar Pradesh Police, the case was transferred to the CBI. A CBI court at Ghaziabad sentenced the Talwars to life imprisonment on November 26, 2013 in connection with the case. -PTC NEWS
