AAP initiates 3-level probe into 'audio leak' case of Punjab Minister Fauja Singh Sarari
Chandigarh, September 14: Amid the calls for Punjab minister Fauja Singh Sarari’s removal after an audio of him making an ‘extortion’ plan went viral, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state has gone defensive. The AAP has stated that it has to verify the authenticity of the clip before taking action, therefore it has ordered a three-level investigation into the 'audio leak' case. The minister, Fauja Singh Sarari and his OSD, Tarsem Lal Kapoor, are allegedly heard discussing tactics for trapping foodgrain contractors and later extorting money from them in the audio clip. During the investigation, the team will look into the authenticity of the leaked clip and the relationship between the Punjab Minister and his OSD Tarsem Lal Kapoor. The probe report will be submitted to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann after he returns from Germany. OSD Tarsem is also believed to have met senior party leaders and is adamant about the authenticity of the audio. Earlier on Tuesday, Sarari claimed that Tarsem edited and doctored the audio to settle personal scores after he refused to bail out his nephew in a case of flag misuse. On Tuesday, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also stated that a probe into Sarari is underway. Many aspects of this matter are being investigated; further action will be taken only after the investigation report is received.
