3 medical colleges in three districts to come up in Assam The Assam government on Wednesday announced the launch of three new medical colleges in three different districts of the state. A total of Rs 1,186 crore to be spent on this entire project. These medical colleges will be able to add 1500 beds to the existing number of beds available in the government sector. According to the media reports, the foundation stone of these medical colleges would be laid in early January. Also Read: Tandoor case: HC asks Delhi govt why Sushil Sharma not released after 29 yrs of incarceration Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told in a press conference, "In order to achieve the goal of bringing the healthcare facilities to all corners of the state, the government is going to start three new medical colleges at Nalbari, Kokrajhar and Tinsukia.” He further added that each of these colleges will have 100 MBBS seats for the students and additional 500 beds for the patients. On January 6, the foundation stone of Kokrajhar Medical College will be laid. On January 7, the foundation stone of Nalbari Medical College will be laid. And on January 8, the foundation stone of Tinsukia Medical College will be laid.
