Afghan government compound attack kills 43
At least 45 people were killed 25 others were injured in an Afghan government compound attack and seven-hour assault on Monday in Kabul. The seven-hour assault began on Monday afternoon with the detonation of a vehicle bomb at the gate of the building.

After the detonation, nearly three gunmen stormed in the building where hundreds of employees were working. The gunmen took hostages in the building.
Four attackers and a police officer were among the dead after a standoff at the National Authority for Disabled People and Martyrs' Families in Kabul. More than 23 people and two police were wounded. More than 350 workers were evacuated.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Wazir Akbar Khan Hospital after the attack. The Taliban and Islamic State Group have not claimed the responsibility of the attack so far.

According to the media sources, this attack comes after the US military began planning to withdraw about half the troops in Afghanistan. Though the planning is underway, it could take months to withdraw 7,000 troops all at once.
