ADGP Promod Ban to head Punjab police's anti-gangster task force
Punjab, April 7: ADGP Promod Ban has been appointed the head of the newly formed Anti-Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police. According to the orders issued on Thursday, ADGP Pramod Ban has been directed to join the new place of posting immediately. He is currently been posted at Special Crimes & Economic Offences Wing Punjab, Chandigarh. Meanwhile, Ludhiana Commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar has been appointed DIG of the new wing which was announced by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to tackle gangsters in Punjab. AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan is made AIG of the new force. Earlier on April 5, giving special concern to organized crime in the state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday had ordered the constitution of an Anti-Gangster Task Force in the state. "Punjab Government is establishing a full-fledged Task Force to combat organized crime. (It is) to be headed by an ADGP-rank officer," the statement read. On lines of similar specialized units in the country, the Punjab Government said that the Task Force will have integrated collection of intelligence, manning and execution of operations, registration of FIRs, investigation and prosecution.
