At least 7 dead, 150 missing in Brazil dam collapse disaster
At least seven people died and more than 150 went missing when a disused dam collapsed in southeast Brazil on Friday. The incident took place at an iron ore mine complex. The tailings dam is owned by Brazilian mining giant Vale.

According to the Vale spokesperson, the dam broke very violently and very suddenly. The collapse resulted in a massive torrent of mud over the complex where hundreds of employees were working. The flood rumbled on to a nearby town of Brumadinho. It destroyed vegetation, farmlands and roads.
The rescue operation is underway. The rescue teams were working overnight into Saturday. Also, more than 12 helicopters are being used in the operation.

Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro and Defense Minister were to fly over to the affected zone today (January 26).
