27 die in massive fire near Mundka metro station, 2 arrested so far
New Delhi, May 14: At least 27 people were killed and several others were critically injured after a massive fire broke out in a four-storey building in West Delhi’s Mundka. The fire accident is the worst fire that Delhi has seen in recent days. On Friday evening, a large fire devoured the four-story structure. According to the police, the early investigation found that it is the commercial building was generally used for providing office space for companies. The fire started on the first floor of the building, which houses a company that manufactures CCTV cameras and routers. The company's owners are in police custody. "A total of 27 people have died and 12 are injured. We'll take the help of the forensic team to identify the bodies. FIR has been registered. We've detained company owners. There are chances that more bodies may be recovered as the rescue operation is yet to be completed," DCP Sameer Sharma (Outer District) said. According to police, the building owner has been identified as Manish Lakra. "The building did not have a fire NOC. The owner of the building has been identified as Manish Lakra who lived on the top floor. Lakra is currently absconding, teams are on the job and he will be nabbed soon," DCP Sameer Sharma (Outer District) said. Moreover, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team on Saturday carried out a search and rescue operation in the building that was gutted in a massive fire.
