23 Ludhiana Residents get 3-yr rigorous Imprisonment for bank fraud The Special Judge for CBI cases at Mohali awarded three years of rigorous sentence along with a fine of Rs 1.70 lakh to 24 persons, including a senior official of a bank, in a 15 year old case. The accused included Satnam Singh Wadhwa, the then branch manager of the State Bank of Hyderabad, small-scale industries (SSI) branch, Ludhiana, Sandeep Gauba, Mahender Pal Singla, Sanjay Sethi, Randhir Singh, Hafiz Ansari, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Veena Rani, Surinder Chauhan, Suresh Chauhan, Sheela Rani, Prem Chand, Om Parkash, Tamanna, Akash, Augustin Das, Kanwaljit Singh, Shashi Sharma, Amit Kumar, Mohammad Aslam, Naresh Kumar Arora, Bindu, Joginder Pal Singh and Rekha Rani, all residents of Ludhiana. The CBI had registered a case against the accused on September 30, 2003, under Sections 120-B, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC and Sections 13(2), 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988 on a complaint from the State Bank of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. -PTC News
