1992-batch IPS officer Gaurav Yadav becomes new Punjab DGP
Mohali, July 4: Senior IPS officer Gaurav Yadav has been appointed as the new director-general of Punjab police, an official order said on Monday. The 1992-batch officer was earlier serving as Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Yadav's appointment comes as VK Bhawra proceeded on a two-month leave, seeking central deputation. Yadav led the Punjab Police's 2014 international operation to apprehend one of the most wanted terrorists, Jagtar Singh Tara. He was SSP in Punjab for ten years and Commissioner of Police for four. He served as the Chandigarh SSP from 2002 to 2004.
