Coronavirus cases in Punjab rise to 1,644; death toll 28
The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 1644 after 118 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Thursday evening. The death toll in the state has increased to 28 after new death was reported from Hoshiarpur. According to the media bulletin issued by the Punjab Health Department, Tarn Taran reported 43 new cases while Amritsar reported 46 new cases of coronavirus. Patiala and Gurdaspur reported 6 COVID-19 cases each while Sangrur, Ludhiana, and Fatehgarh Sahib reported one new case each. Jalandhar reported 12 new cases of coronavirus while Bathinda reported two new COVID-19 cases. Amritsar is on the top of the tally with 276 cases followed by Jalandhar at 147, Tarn Taran at 146, Ludhiana at 125, Mohali and Patiala at 95. Gurdaspur has reported 91 cases of coronavirus while Hoshiarpur reported 89 cases. Sangrur stands at 88 while SBS Nagar has 85 and Muktsar stands at 65. A total of 56 cases have been reported from Moga, 45 from Faridkot. Ferozepur has recorded 43 cases of coronavirus so far.
